The decor is definitely 'northwoods' and has many mounted animals etc. The house, patio and garage are wired with stereo and cd player with controls in each room. Our rates for the fall and winter are basic and will be determined by the number of guests, inquire for specifics. New for 2014 is a totally renovated garage into a game room with Ping Pong, foosball, gaming system (central air conditioning) and more. Note: We have no additional per guest fees. Come get away from it all at the little slice of heaven that we have affectionately named Minnow Heights. The cabin was built in 2003 and has 2 bedrooms plus a loft. Each room has a queen bed and there are two queen beds in the loft. The main living area has a twin sleeper sofa. There is a bathroom with a shower on the main level and a bathroom with a tub in the loft. The laundry room is located off of the kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware and dishes and is open to the dining and living area. There is a whole-house water filtration and softener system and high-speed WiFi. Howard Lake is a beautiful, quiet lake with 12+ foot water clarity and a maximum depth of 60 feet. The lake is long and narrow, which we love for kayaking. It is surrounded by the beautiful Chippewa National Forest. There is a private boat launch on the property that guests may use along with 2 kayaks and a paddle boat. The property is level to the lake and has 100 feet of lakeshore and beautiful west-facing views of undeveloped shoreline. We love to end the day sitting out by a cozy fire, watching the sunset and listening to the loon calls. The cabin is located 10 minutes from Walker and 30 minutes from Park Rapids. Both have shopping, dining, golfing, etc. There are many lakes in the area to enjoy if you choose. Because the boat launch is right on the property, you could easily pull your boat out and spend a day exploring any of the other excellent fishing, swimming, and boating lakes in the area. There is close access to the Paul Bunyan trail for biking, snowmobiling, hiking, jogging, cross-country skiing, etc. We think there is no better way to start the day than a morning hike along the Paul Bunyan trail. There are also motorized vehicle trails in the area. There is a basement accessed from the outside that guests may use to store toys and/or gear. Our spacious Lodge has over 7,600 sq ft and 25 foot high ceilings with a great room that has a wall of windows facing Long Lake. The Lodge also has two lofts and three stone fireplaces! Bed linens are provided. You must supply your own towels, wash cloths and dish cloths. There are two bathrooms on the main floor and two bathrooms downstairs. Showers are roll in for ease and accessibility for all. The kitchen with center island has stainless steel appliances appliances and is stocked with all the dishes and cooking utensils you will need. Two beautiful lounging areas each with stone fireplaces and comfortable furniture are at each end of the Lodge. The large great room is perfect for dinners, crafting, sleep overs, yoga or whatever your heart desires! In the fun-filled game room, you will find multiple activities including foosball, board games, TV, cards, books, and more! We will provide minimal dishes and cookware. R&R is a 14' x 16', 224 square foot dream of a tiny A-frame cabin in the woods. It is perfect for a weekend getaway. There is a queen bed as well as a loft for storage and a small kitchenette, includes coffee pot, microwave and toaster oven. Cozy and comfortable it is the perfect way to enjoy a glamping experience. Nearby there is an outdoor bathroom newly completed with a tiled shower. There are two outdoor kitchens that are also close by that have refrigerators and stoves available for use. The R&R has a small deck attached, perfect for relaxing in the evening. There is a small charcoal grill, you will need to bring your own charcoal. This tiny cabin is not accessible. There are 3 lakes on the property perfect for fishing or swimming as well as 48 acres with plenty of trails through the woods. The town of Walker, MN is only 3 miles away.
